Turmeric Latte

More then your average latte.

If you’re familiar with health and nutrition world by now you’ve probably heard of turmeric and is amazing properties, if you’re not, I will fill you in on all the craze. Turmeric is definitely something you want to add to your diet but not something that’s typically easy to add, unless you love curry like me! However, I’m here to help, I have a delicious, cozy, and sweet way to get some turmeric in to your system!

This super root has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, aids in digestion, and improves liver function.

What is turmeric?

First a little background information about turmeric. What even is this stuff? Well… it’s a root plant that is ground into a spice, grown in India and other south east Asian countries. You can buy it in ground form or as a root, I find ground form is just easier to add into your food! This super root has powerful anti-inflammatory properties, aids in digestion, and improves liver function. There are many more benefits that you can research about, I’ve just found that these three are the more focused benefits out there.

One way I like to add turmeric in to my life is with my turmeric latte! Its comforting and delicious on a cold day and easy to whip up.

Recipe (Cozy, comforting, anti-inflammatory version)

  • Coconut milk (to fit mug)
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Sweetener of choice (I use a tsp of maple syrup or add a date)

Recipe (Gut healing, immunity booster, flu fighting version)

  • 2 tbsp bone broth
  • 1 tbsp ghee
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1/2 too black pepper
  • 1/4 cube vegetable bouillon
  • mug of hot water

Instructions

Heat up coconut milk on stove top, not to boiling point but warm to your liking. Add all ingredients in blender and blend on high for 1 minute. If not using blender can add all ingredients into pot and whisk together (do not use date as sweetener in this case).
