Tis’ the szn for candy cane everything.

Now that American Thanksgiving has come and gone, I feel as though the true Christmas spirit has slid right into life and into my social media 😉 This means one thing for me, pump out as many healthy Xmas recipes as I can in the next few weeks for you! Starting with Candy Cane Donuts!

Donut worry.

Don’t worry, because these candy cane donuts hit all the “healthy” checkmarks. You can literally eat them without any guilt. (Also FYI, something I’ve been working on over the last few months *food freedom* you should not feel bad for anything you eat, however enjoy food to its fullest) However, no judgement, I know it can be difficult around the holidays to make sure you’re not “losing control”, for a lack of better term, and putting on extra weight you’ve worked so hard to get off *will save this for another post. Back to the candy cane donuts!

Gluten free, refined sugar free, dairy free, taste FULL.

These candy cane donuts are the full of the good stuff. The only refined sugar is the crushed candy cane you dip them in at the end (keep in mind, you can sprinkle less, or not use the candy cane at all if you choose too). Bring them to Christmas parties, holiday brunches, or eat them all to yourself, whatever you do, these will sure to be a hit.

What you’ll need:

One bowl:

  • 1 1/2 cups almond flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp Lakanto monk fruit sweetener (I used the golden one)
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Another bowl:

  • 1/4 cup coconut butter
  • 1/4 cup MCT oil
  • 1/4 cup almond butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp peppermint extract

Icing:

  • 1/4 cup coconut butter
  • 2 tbsp MCT oil
  • 1 tsp collagen
  • crushed candy cane

Method:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In the two separate bowls, mix all the ingredients together and then combine the bowls. Put mixture in greased donut tray. Pop in the oven for 12 mins. Take out and allow to cool. Once cooled, make the icing mixture, separately putting the crushed candy cane in a bowl to dip donuts in. Dip donuts in icing, hen crushed candy cane. Allow to harden and serve!
